Stardew Valley Beginner’s Guide

Getting started

Character creation: At the beginning of the game, you’ll create your own character, including name, gender, appearance, and choosing a farm.

Choose your farm: There are several types of farms, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

  • Standard farm: A standard farm with plenty of space for crops.
  • Riverland farm: Has many rivers, suitable for fishing.
  • Forest farm: Has many trees and natural resources.

Time and energy management

  • Time: A day in the game lasts about 15-20 minutes in real time. Manage your time efficiently to complete tasks.
  • Learn the seasons: Stardew Valley has 4 seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Each season has different crops and fish. Learn to plant the right crops for the season.
  • Energy: Each activity, like chopping trees or mining rocks, consumes energy. When your energy runs out, you need to eat to recover or rest at the end of the day.

First days

  • Clear the farm: You’ll start with an overgrown farm full of weeds, rocks, and wood. Use the available tools to clear the area. Remove weeds and rocks to make space for planting. Initially, just clear a small area enough to plant all the initial seeds.

  • Go to bed early: Go to bed before midnight to have enough energy for the next day.

Daily activities

  • Water crops: Water your crops every day for them to grow. Later, you can upgrade your watering can or build an automatic sprinkler system.
  • Gather resources: Chop trees for wood, mine rocks for building resources.
  • Earn money: Sell crops, fish, or mine for money. You’ll need money to buy seeds, tools, and upgrades.
  • Explore the town: Get to know the residents, learn about the events and festivals in town.
  • Socialize with villagers: Chat and give gifts to the characters in the village to build relationships. Each character has their own likes and dislikes, you will learn to choose the right gifts.
  • Quests: Complete quests given by the residents to receive rewards and increase your reputation.

Farm development

  • Construct buildings: Build structures like barns, coops, and greenhouses to expand your farm’s operations.
  • Craft items: Use the crafting table to create useful items like processing machines and sprinkler systems.

Exploration and adventure
